Christmas vacation wrap-up

Nearly three weeks! I am the worst blogger in the world and I'd like to apologize to the two people who read the blog -- Julia and Simon, if you're still there, I resolve to be better.

So I have a slew of pictures from Christmas, which I had to pilfer from my dad (again, I was too shy to bring out my camera).

Christmas with my family was a ton of fun. There were 11 adults and six children all in the same house and it was still fantastic.

One of the first things we did was decorate sugar cookies. The kids particularly had a good time and below I have a picture of Julia's daughter sporting her diabetic comma cookie -- that sucker had EVERYTHING on it.

We got to celebrate my nephew Caleb's birthday during the holiday. His 8th birthday was earlier in the month, but he was a sport and held off on partying until the whole family could join in (he's in the middle).

And then there was Christmas Eve (my favorite evening). Here is a photo of the nativity with our two angels ... Lane and I played Mary and Joseph (not in that order) and yes, that is a Cabbage Patch Baby in the manager (it's all I could find).

The nativity reenactment is always followed up by a massive feast sporting rolls and ham and everyone's favorite dish. Here is a photo of the piggy scene. That entire island is COVERED in food.
Christmas morning was great. We had a Ping Pong Tournament the day of Christmas (Davey Dave Diggity Dave and Lane made it to final round, Dave was the champion). We took a family picture on the 26th (photos of that when they come). And then to finish off the week, we had Caleb's baptism (he's the snappy dresser in the suit in the front).

Greg's family had to go home on New Year's Eve, but Katie and Dave got to stay until Jan. 6. Nights were mostly filled with riveting games of Scene It (Katie killed on them all) and Trivial Pursuit (Dad did best, but we all felt pretty stupid.) We also made a trip to San Francisco, which was a ton of fun, although the entire city is under construction. (Here's Diana and Katie in Golden Gate Park.)

On the Saturday before Katie and Dave left, we celebrated Dave's birthday. We went bowling and to dinner. Lane KILLED everyone on the bowling. Julia's kids killed me in scores ... if you're keeping track, I was the big loser.

So that was the end of December and beginning of January. I had a doctor's appointment where they gave me an unexpected sonogram to check the baby's size (everything is fine) and we have a photo ... I'll scan it and post it (a little gem to look forward to). Lane and I also went to our first prenatal class, but I'll talk about that next week on our second class (another little gem).
