Two Ugly Traits: Stalking and Ego

Somehow, my brilliant sister Julia always seems to find wickedly funny bloggers (she, of course, is one too, so maybe it's a cool-kids kind of club). I read these genius writers and feel surges of shame and pity for my little blog.

I have discovered another one of my sister's finds ... and I am now a devoted stalker/reader. She's the cat's meow.

Sure, everyone thinks they can be a witty writer ... why, when I was a journalist I would consistently hear contacts and other reporters alike wax eloquent on how they would be a fabulous writer and columnist. Here's the cold, hard truth: You can be a witty person, but it takes a person of great caliber to be a witty writer. Typically, these delusional people, of which I am one (because somewhere in the deep recesses of my soul, I know I think I'm funny when I write), end up sounding sophomoric.

Anyway, besides this fact, she had an excellent link the other day to a Web site that rates the readability of your blog. Excellent! I found that much like her, I thought my blog would be above and beyond the mediocre. I have a slight (and unfounded, as it would seem) ego about my vocabulary. I've always thought I had a slightly intelligent tone. I brazenly went to the site this morning, typed in my blog address and here was my result:

blog readability test

Movie Reviews

Shot through the heart. Not quite the college level I thought I would be. I'm incorporating the Word of the Day into all my posts and will try again later.

if it makes you feel any better, my blog http://midnightquotes.blogspot.com/ scored a College [Undergrad] level – and all it’s filled with is nonsensical rambling and offensively cutting remarks. Dunno what that proved, besides the fact that I’m awesome… but that was already proven, so really it just further solidified the state of my awesomeness... but, to totally disagree with the assertion of 'mrs. e' that "this thing is a total joke" --> it pegged my awesomeness to a T [or an 'A' since that's what 'awesomeness' starts with] --> just keep trying Rachel... you'll get there. Perhaps read my blog regularly and you'll pickup on some increased vocabulary and complex sentence structures that you haven't been exposed to before
