The Nanny

This is my niece, Miss A. She's 6. And she's perhaps the best babysitter/nanny I'll ever find.

Miss A loves Jane. She has no little sisters, so I imagine Jane is her proxy.

Every time Miss A comes over, she runs to Jane's room, grabs what she knows to be her favorite books (because she pays attention to such things), and goes to read to Jane. She plays endlessly with Jane. She begs to sit next to her at dinner. She wants to come in the car with Jane for every outing. She shows her off to every little friend we meet (much like a proud parent).

Tonight, when we went out to dinner as a family, Miss A brought a retinue of books to read to Jane. Then she hurriedly finished her dinner (of which she shared her coveted fries with Jane) so that she could feed Jane. No one ever volunteers for that. It's usually a toss up of which parent will be feeding the baby.

And I was in heaven.

I told my sister that Miss A is coming with me wherever I go. And I'm serious.

This morning she was talking about when she will be in Texas with you guys. I told her that she wasn't really moving with you and Jane. And she said, "I know. If I did then Henry would cry and cry and no one would be here to make him smile again." Don't worry, someday Jane will be that kind of sister!

I'm glad they have that bond though. She is her big sister!

That is awesome! It is nice to have a break every once in awhile. Are you moving to Texas?
