One of the greatest songs of all time?
Elton John's "Tiny Dancer." No lie. The man's a genius in his own time. (Just in case you'd like to relive the classic:)
Why do I mention "Tiny Dancer"?
As I was running errands yesterday, a remake of the song came on the radio and I was reminded of my wonderful and fabulous friend, Kallee.
You must realize, Kallee is essentially me in many ways. The only real difference between us when we lived in St. George was that I had an affinity for black hair and black clothing and she preferred the blond hair and pink clothes.
But I digress.
Kallee really doesn't like to sing in front of people. However, if she feels comfortable with you (or really gets wrapped up in the moment), she'll start to sing.
One afternoon, as we attempted to blaze a path through the clothing strewn around our apartment, she started to quietly sing along to one of her favorites, Elton John's "Tiny Dancer".
Suddenly it was the chorus. And this is what I hear Kal belt out: "Hold me closer Tony Danza."
I chuckle.
Turning down the music, I inquire of Kallee, "what does Elton say in the chorus?"
She repeats her Tony Danza line. Laughing I inform her that it is "tiny dancer."
Kallee started laughing so hard that she fell onto the ground (not unheard of in her fits of laughter, but certainly not a normal sight).
Now it's hard for me to hear the chorus without thinking "Tony Danza" (of course, the above linked version, Elton's a little more clear than in his original recording, I think).
P.S. You're asking yourself: Why is Elton John so awesome? The answer is: I don't know either.
P.P.S. Kal: Try listening to the Tim McGraw version. He's a ton more clear on the "tiny dancer" in the chorus.

That is so funny! Weirdly enough I was just thinking the other day about one of Rich's misquoted song lines. Rich always thought the song 'Secret Agent Man' man 'Secret Asian Man'. That one cracks me up!
That is hilarious. Do you know that country song, "My Maria"? I had a roommate that used to sing, "Gonareha!" instead of My Maria for the chorus. THe song has now been ruined for me forever.
I really think someone must have done a spoof with the whole "Tona Danza" thing, because that's definitely the way Dave sings the song (jokeingly, of course). Really, when I read the title of the post, I knew exactly what it meant. Odd.
