The need for one specific dessert. It grew stronger and stronger until my weakened state could no longer resist.
I had to have frosted marshmallow brownies.
I know, a lot of my urgent blogs are about food. That's just the way my life is. Now you're wondering why I was so shocked when I saw that sharp increase in weight gain at the OB's a month ago.
Back to my crazy need for these brownies:
I woke up yesterday morning resolved. I checked the pantry. I had brownie mix AND marshmallows, but no powdered sugar. No problem, I'd pick some up on my quick run to the grocery later in the day.
But last night, as Lane walked out the door to Boy Scouts (new Scout master), I realized -- I had forgotten the powdered sugar for frosting.
The baby was bathed, in her pajamas and all ready for her bottle and bed. I glanced at the clock, there was still technically 15 minutes until bedtime. I glanced out the door: It was coming down in sheets.
What to do? It was a real dilemma.
I waffled in the doorway. Yes, I would go, I decided.
As I approached the grocery store it started coming down harder. Why, I thought, did I not put socks on the baby? (She was in shorts and a t-shirt.) Why did I not have an umbrella? Why, oh why, did I need these brownies?
I threw a raincoat on Jane and started running (waddling) as fast as my 8-month pregnant body clad in Rainbow flip flops would go once we parked. I'm sure I was a sight.
At home later, both Jane and I changed into dry clothes and she snug in bed, I laughed at my crazy drive for these brownies.
Now you're asking: Rachel, was it worth it?

Yes. Did you even need to ask?

You are so funny. I've same exact struggle with trying to decide whether or not to go to the store. Not for brownie ingredients, but still, I understand the delima. Should I just eat these turtles myself since you're craving something different?
dilemma ... delima must be some place in Peru
Scout Master??? That's intense. I had no idea. And I know about insane cravings;however, no craving has ever been urgent enough that I've actually braved the grocery store with my two crazed monsters...If I was closer, I would just mooch off your delicious cravings.
The piece on the plate looks good. I hope you finished that piece as well. Heather is pregnant I'm not sure if Lane told you. I think I am having the cravings. It is wierd my wife is pregnant and I am eating like crazy. If you don't mind can I have the recipe?
K, now you need to share the recipe, b/c I'm craving them now too :)
You are so mean to show that ooooyyy ggggooooyyy bite to taunt me.
That looks and sounds really good! Baby boy was probably happy that you hooked him up! When I was pregnant with Daver I wanted a chocolate oreo (double oreo) blizzrd from dairy queen ALL THE TIME! And shamefully I will admit that I ate them ALL THE TIME!
I love it! I wish I could have witnessed your waddling "dash" through the rain. :)
Those brownies sound good... I've been so focused on eating my weight in peanut butter cup ice cream lately I'd forgotten about baked goods... something to add to my list of cravings :)
