Runs in the Family

My little man had his 2-week appointment today.

He still has jaundice, but Doc C explained that there were two kinds of jaundice. I can't remember the whole explanation, but Cliff Notes: He said Elliot was fine, particularly considering his weight gain.

You see, in the 10 days since his last visit, E-Man has gained a solid pound. Yes, just like his sister at this age. Doc C simply raised his eyebrows and told me the goal was to get 2-week-olds to their birth weight. He said I get extra credit.

Apparently I produce sedative-laced cream. Because, now this could be a fluke and we could go right back to typical baby habits, for the last few nights, my boy slept for a 5 to 6 hour stretch.

I shouldn't get my hopes up though. Jane did set a high bar in the sleeping department.

P.S. You notice the different nicknames here? I'm trying to find one for him that fits. Jane is Pooh Bear and I've tried Monkey, E-Man, Little Man and Little Dude on Elliot. Probably nothing stuck because nothing fits. Not that this is life and death, but a good nickname is the foundation of childhood.

So glad to hear that sleeping hours are extending. He is already starting to look so different - much more familiar to his sister, I think. Glad everything checked out a-okay...My boys never lost an ounce either. You live in Texas now, right? Bigger is better?

Its breastfeeding jaundice and it is normal. My kids always had it too. As long as he is drinking lots of you and pooping lots, he is fine. My nursing degree is kicking in. I am always on call for friends. ;)
