I had an epiphany a few nights ago. There I was, struggling to stay awake as I nursed and then subsequently getting irrationally irritated as my poor baby struggled to get back to sleep.
My day was filling with child care, cleaning, cooking and nursing. I had little time to do anything for myself -- namely, sleep or shower.
Then I remembered, if I don't take care of myself, no one else will. And since I can't (and don't want to) stop taking care of my babies, I decided I could have better time management.
That's when I started reading while I nurse.
This was my magic pill -- I remain calm and collected and Elliot quickly soothes when his mother isn't tense and frantic to get him back to sleep (it's an oxymoron).
Reading is my energy. And now I have the motivation to do other things, like the gym yesterday.
But now I have a new problem: I'm reading long after he falls asleep. Like last night, he was up at 2 a.m. to eat and it was 4 a.m. before I got back into bed. Mind you, I had nursed him, burped him, reswaddled him, but I have no idea what time he peacefully fell asleep against my chest -- I was too wrapped up in the book my niece INSIST that I read (yes, Twilight my friends, I have finally succumbed).
Still, I feel great this morning (I won't lie, a little dragging, but overall great).
Now we're going to work on finding time for the shower thing.

You are just barely reading TWILIGHT?!?!?! Holy cow Rach! I was a little apprehensive at first, and in actuality I didn't even know it was so popular until I saw the movie. I loved every book.....I totally got wrapped up in them too.
When your done with that series The Host is also really good. I never read Twilight but I really liked the Host.

Mine was listening to motivational tapes and Lorin seems to tell his version of the story, waking up, hearing Paul Dunn and thinking he had died and was having a PPI or interview. . .ha ha. It was a great way to study, listen and reading too. As long as you're up, a great and positive way to utilize that time. Good for you! It is really a mental/psychological attitude deal and YOU are making a most positive decision. . .see you next week, very excited to spend whatever time and give all the help needed!
when you get the shower thing down, will you let me know :)? My "me time" was and still is knitting and or crocheting. The kids could be fighting, and I dont even care when I have some needles and yarn in my hands.
More power to you and I hope you are a fast reader. I didn't do anything for 3 days when I read Twilight and subsequent books. My poor children.
Welcome to the twilighters club. I have stayed up way too late many a night to read ... and reread them.
