My little Miss Independent. And, yes, I realize Jane has accrued a slew of nicknames and titles recently. But try and keep up, will you?
Everything in Jane's life is about doing it herself and doing all things adults get to do.
No more highchair. She wants to sit at the table, have a plate (previously she only used a suctioned bowl) and a fork.

She requires no help at the playground (except to get up and down -- both prefaced with "up, please").

Her most adamant demand? No more soft-soled (baby) shoes. I can not stress this enough. The child only wants her brown MaryJanes or one of her two sets of Converse. The soft-soled beginner's shoes are a thing of the past.
She even recently begun a panic attack every time she goes potty in her diaper. She wants it off and she wants it off now. She wants to sit on the toilet, but the gaping hole, which I'm sure she sees as a bottomless pit, freaks her out.
And tonight, for the first time, Jane slept in a big-girl bed.

Yes, we've made a major transition in our home and, although I desired normalcy and the return of my room, I'm feeling a bit sad and nostalgic for her babyhood.
She's in her own room and, for the past 3 hours, has been sleeping peacefully in her bed. (The other view of the room, her dresser. The room will be a vintage white with red decor as soon as I can get a frame for the bed.)

The cradle in the master bedroom is empty. Elliot's in the nursery and has happily and quietly been there sleeping for the past 2 1/2 hours.
Time is marching forward. And this mommy is a mix of emotions.
You're coveting my grow chart, aren't you? Sorry. It's a Julia Original.
Update: Jane loves the bed. She loves her room. She also loves that she now has the freedom to wake-up at 5 a.m. Yes. I do not lie. FIVE A.M.
She has a will of iron and her father buckled and brought her into bed with us. But it wasn't the bed. It was that she wanted to play. What she failed to recognize is that she has a mother with a will of iron. After 3 warnings to lie down and go to sleep, she met her match. Back in the room she went. And we heard screaming for 20 minutes, then silence until our appointed wake time: 7ish.
Luckily, Elliot slept through it all. It's a good thing we've moved him now. This child is all over the place and he is loving the space in the crib.

wow! I'm so impressed that it went so smoothly. But what else can I expect? From a baby that slept through the night at 2 weeks. And E-man, sleeping with no problem in a place. This easy-going nature to change MUST come from the Maygren side of things :)
I love how the chart looks up! Can't wait to see little tally marks on it!
The room already looks very stylish, quite befitting of its fashionable occupant. I love that Jane adores Converse just like you.
Don't you love it when they want too get up at the butt crack of dawn. I think it starts the day off just right, don't you? I love the antique white furniture look. I have a dresser that is white antiqued courtesy of my mom. She did it herself. I didn't get much of the crafty gene. Oh well, seems that you did, so ENJOY!
