Despite Lane's best attempts, our daughter is very much a girly-girl.I tried to explain to him that the Princess Gene is either present from birth or not. He still struggles to accept this basic phenomenon (he blames me and the crown headband).
In the past 3 months, this house has plunged face first into Princess Jane's realm.
There is weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth if a princess movie is not playing on the TV in the afternoon (the only notable exception is The Lion King).
She struggles to go anywhere without one of her dolls present. Mind you, she's had 2 of these dolls since birth, but her marked interest in their existence began only recently.

Dancing with a baby during the musical number "That's How You Know" from Enchanted
Everything is now a purse -- from grocery bags to Elliot's wooden toy with a string loop at the head.
If her hair is done without some kind of bow or clip, panic ensues.
And the insistence of pink. Need I say more?
Lastly, her babies must receive the same attentions Elliot does. Rarely is the baby swing, seat, highchair, or crib empty.
Jane placed her lamb in Elliot's highchair. Can you see her in the background picking out a bib for the lamb? After the bib was attached, she proceeded to buckle the lamb in, roll the seat to the table where I feed Elliot and attempt to slid the tray into place.

Emma has the princess gene as well. You are correct, they are either born with it or not. There is no way to prevent it!
OH GOOD! I am SO GLAD Autumn is not the only little girl that insists on Princess movies and treating babies like real children. When are we going to have that play date/get together? :)
Whatever the male opposite of the princess gene is, Jordan definitely has it. And I suspect Elliot does too. Pretty soon the tiaras and wands will have to make way for Matchbox cars and dump trucks.
I love the irony of that princess headband with her face covered in food. Fantastic.
