A Good Day

There was a nice, cool breeze and a 20-month-old in the back of the car laughing and exclaiming "Oooh" as she clapped her hands while approaching the park.

How could we not stop?

And does your soul fill with more peace and joy than when you can walk next to the one you love most in this world, holding one baby, while the other runs ahead laughing and clapping? (The answer is "no".)

It will forever go down in the annuals of our family history as a good day, because, today, Lane and I bought this:

True story.

I've been so good. You see, Lane didn't want me to post anything until we signed. And today we did. (I'm uber proud of my blog secrecy.)

It's beautiful and has so much potential.

Lane suffers from the delusion that I want to make the whole house the way I dream it right now. What he doesn't understand is that I've waited 22 years for this house, I can wait a few more to fulfill all my plans. (This is true: If you went to my mom's house, pulled out an architecture book from her bookshelf, you would find plans drawn out in a 7-year-old's hand. Those are mine. I detailed the home I wanted, complete with room colors and decor. (I was home sick a lot in the 2nd grade.) This house is, already, eerily close.)

So now here are a bunch of photos (not all of them though), mostly for our mothers, to peruse at your leisure (been reading a LOT of Jane Austen. Seriously -- 3 books in 3 weeks):

Yes, indeed, a very good day.

BTW, I recently read Persuasion and I was completely in love. Was that one of the three books you read in three weeks?

Tragically, no, which is suprising because it's my favorite movie (the one you can't get on DVD, only VHS). I plan to get that book on my next bookstore run. I read Emma, Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey ... which was, REALLY good. I was suprised. It was her first book (last published) and written in part in her youth and then when she was older. Highly recommended. I read that one in 2 days (and only when nursing).

Lane,
Is the house next door for sale? If so I will buy it and then we can start building our under ground hall to each others house.

From the other half of the "mothers", thanks for sharing. It is beautiful and what a blessing to visit two dearly loved families in one trip to Texas. Now if all other children can "land" in pairs, it would be great. Holding out hope that perhaps a third will find his way to Texas and that will truly be a coup. Jane and Elliot look very much at "home". . .send pictures of the painting results too!

So fun to finally go inside and have it be your own. Love that you already have all the decorating picked out. It's so fun to put your dreams to reality. Enjoy the beautiful home. We'll be moving my mother in law in next week as well, so we can share in the back aches and joys of moving!!!

I'm so happy for you. It's full of charm, just like you guys. Since Lane's friend already claimed one of the houses next door, can I buy the other one?
