Get Pinched

This morning, Kallee (who I adore) told me of her trip to the world of Soccer Moms.

Being that it was St. Patrick's Day yesterday, she was sporting a green sweatshirt and her son was wearing a green shirt. She claims this was incidental, I, obviously, do not believe that. At any rate, she felt like one of the myriad of people. She said every descriptive word except what I believe she meant: Lemming.
Well let me just jump off the cliff. We all wore green yesterday.

Poor thing is cutting at least six teeth right now.

Running from me yelling, "No cheese, mama." ("Don't take my picture.")

The photo of me ... Jane was trying to help.

I had even planned the outfits and made sure that Jane and Elliot's one green shirt each was clean.

And then I made a traditional Irish dinner: Corned Beef and Cabbage. And green mint chocolate cookies.
Yes, sir. And we had people over. Wonderful people who joined in my first adventure of Corned Beef and Cabbage, the brave souls.
Not enough Irish in either Lane or I to claim Irish, but I'll exploit anything for a celebration, especially if there's food involved.

Hey, Rachel!
I'm half Irish, G:pa has Irish, so your mom would be 3/8 Irish, so you would be 1.5/8th Irish. That's enough to count. One drop of Irish goes a long way. You come by it honestly. My mother was Irish and a little Scot. My dad was full blooded Finn.
Love seeing pictures of your children
I see Jane has a hitchhiker's thumb.

By the way, I'm so proud of you and your cooking exploits!

Love ya, G:ma

Amen, Grandma. I just got on to say that exact thing. Here I am in Utah telling Dave how Irish I am and how we have to celebrate in high festivity. And I'm never wrong.

Grandma also forgot to include Dad, who has Irish. So we're probably more that than anything. (Oh, us American mutts. We can only say we're "mostly" something.)

Hey! I call that selective breeding! Survival of the fittest! I would pit any of my Boyer, Child, Condie, Matis, McCabe, Olsen, Packard thoroughbreds against ANY comers. (Notice: I have diplomatically alphabetized the names.)

Hey, we were having corned beef and cabbage that night too (and it was also my first time with the dish). Didn't make cookies, though, but they sound good. We had some soda bread instead. Next year I want to make "Irish potatoes" for dessert.
