Turning Two with Pizazz

As Lane is constantly reminding me, birthdays are a big deal for me and not necessarily the others involved. But I think my babies might take after me in the birthday-big-deal department. It certainly was quite the day for my Little Princess.
After waking to a crown and doughnuts, she insisted on wearing the crown for the rest of the day (I wrestled it off for nap time).
We colored during Elliot's morning nap:
Sojourned to the mall connected to Daddy's office to meet Daddy for lunch and played

then played some more

and played yet some more.
After an hour in the play area, we got a Happy Meal for lunch

and came home for naps.
Waking, we promptly replaced the crown and began playing with a balloon-filled living room:

and played some more.

After which we began our patient wait for Daddy to come home and our cousins to join us for a 2-year-old birthday party (don't you fret about her entertainment -- we boogied to "That's How You Know" Enchanted, "I've Got a Feeling" Black Eye Peas and "Poker Face" Lady Gaga).

Mom got the Cookie Monster Sugar Fest completed:

and everyone arrived.
After dinner, we began the signing and candle blowing rite of passage

but our daughter had become a true 2-year-old, pitched a fit and refused to blow out her candle.

After spending the afternoon asking incessantly for "Cookie", she refused to eat the cake, but stuck with the three varieties of cookies I had prepared.

Everyone else partook of the blue goodness:

at which point, my son again became concerned that the camera was not pointed in his direction.

We opened presents.

And inspected Every. Single. One.

And lest we forget our little Camera Diva.

After all was said and done, Jane ran around with her new treasures.

All in all, a good day for our Little Princess.

I feel like I was there to enjoy the festivities! Thanks for taking me on a little trip :)

Happy Birthday Jane! Just think ... next year and your reach will be unlimited. No more >3 restricted toys off limits. I think I will be buying Leggos.

I remember you got me a crown and donuts once for my birthday, and I was at least 20 years older than Jane. I'm glad she had a fun celebration. Good luck topping that next year for her golden birthday - 3 on 3/3.

To those of you wondering: I did not make the cake. It would be fairly easy to copy, if that is anyone's desire, but for $14, I couldn't pass up the escape from heartache and headache of making a cake with two babies under foot. (I got it at Kroger. AKA Smith's or Raley's.)
