Excuses

Just two weeks ago, I realized I needed an appointment for something very important -- and I needed the appointment like 3 days earlier.

I was full of excuses as to why I hadn't made the appointment earlier. My main excuse was something I considered valid and legitimate (wait ... it's the same thing ... ah, two synonyms sounds more impressive).

But, in the end, it was merely an excuse.

I've used the same excuse for a lot  of things lately.

Like why, up until a week and a half ago, it had been 2 months since I made dinner.

Literally, in the past two months I made dinner a grand total of THREE times. I might even be counting fishsticks and mac and cheese in that number -- that's how bad it was.

What did my family eat, you ask? I have no idea. You'd have to ask my wonderful husband Lane.

I was too sick to move off the couch.

In fact, every time I went to the couch, Jane would utter the same phrase, "Oh no, Mommy! Don't close your eyes!"

I have never felt so sick in my whole life.

But again, I felt my reason to be totally valid.

After all, I was growing a human being -- and during its most important stage of development.

And I have never had morning sickness like that. Never.

But, in the end, it was all excuses. It was a good excuse, but an excuse. And one my children didn't understand.

We're back to semi-normal now, with me making large attempts to make up for my past months of neglect.

And, thanks to the miracle of the integrated screening, I know the gender of my baby.

But you don't, which is why I have a poll on the side.

Why don't I share, you ask?

Because Lane is the one with excuses now. The ultrasound tech said she was "reasonably sure" and Lane said we should wait until she could say she was sure. But thinking back, do they ever say they are sure?

The name is down to two selections, we have a hold out on one side of the partnership. If the baby had been the other flavor, the name would have been done and decided, but I will hold onto the name on the chance that there is another someday, another of the differing gender.

I don't have a scanner, so I can't show any of the photos, but little nugget is cute (what else do you expect me to say?). Same nose as Jane and Elliot and already has the Packard beak.

I almost feel duty bound to reproduce. Yes, you heard me right. Because my kids are so stinkin' cute.

You can disagree with me if you'd like, but I'll just delete your comment. I am, after all, a moody pregnant lady. And that's another excuse for you.

So, girls are now winning! Not by a big margin, but it is 2 to nothing. I think Jane does need a sister. And yes, pregnancy is a valid excuse for any kind of "lazy" behavior. I think three home cooked meals by you in a month is fantastic!

How exciting!!! I'm so happy for you!
What is with third babies though? My sis is pregnant with her third and it has been her hardest pregnancy thus far (morning sickness wise) too.
Sorry you've been ill, but all for a good cause, right?
Congratulations!

Congratulations! I'm guessing girl because it sounds like Lane is picking the name, but we all know she/he will be cute! I'm hoping you feel better now (and not just because I can't wait to follow your Halloween advent calendar!)

Congratulations! I know just how you feel...you know dead and sick and tired and neglected children. Logan lived and breathed watching Star Wars movie's when I was prego with Abby.

Yay! I'm excited for many reasons, some of them selfish. See, my little boy will now have TWO cousins close to his age on our side. I'm excited to see your little babe.

CONGRATS!!!!! I say girl. We've been two for two. Let's make it three for three.

It's most certainly a boy and I'll tell you why, the ultra-sound tech doesn't say, "reasonably sure" unless she sees something. Boys have more of *something* to see. Excellent kitchen logic, don't you think so?

Yes. I'd have to to agree with Laura. I'm guessing boy. Congrats! Kids are so fun :) Hope things continue to improve! I mapped how close you are to Melanie and realized you are only 20 minutes away. We will HAVE to do lunch the next time we are up there. Seriously I would love to catch up...that is if you are feeling up to it of course!
