As I stated earlier, her birthday requests included a pink donut, a trip to the zoo and a Barbie Princess cake.
The pink donut, you might already know, was a wild success. And Lane and I were only too happy to acquiesce the the last two requests.

Only one I could find came from Pottery Barn ... and where she ever saw it and played with it, I will never know:
| Disregard the largely pregnant woman in the background. Don't worry, she's already used the Dyson's attachments to vacuum the stairs. |
| In case you're wondering, it's made in a Bundt pan and a 10-inch round. I was too afraid of how dense it would have to be if cooked in a Pyrex bowl. |
That made my heart glad.
I can't get enough of this little girl's face. In fact, on the evening of her birthday, I plastered several kisses onto her cheeks. She looked up at me and said, "Mommy, that was a LOT of kisses." "Well, I love you," I said. "Oh," she replied and deftly bestowed a bunch of kisses to my cheeks.

As a side note, apparently 4 is the new driving age.
For about 8 months, I've been telling Jane her new sibling would be arriving after her birthday (in an attempt to give her some kind of landmark). Yesterday morning, she looked at Lane and said, "OK. I'm ready to go get Baby Owen. Teach me how to drive."
Lane looked aghast, while I just laughed.
She certainly has made my life better by leaps and bounds. And, despite the many shortcomings I feel as a Mother, she has made me a far better person than I was before she came into my life.
Pink-Barbie-princess-FancyNancying and all.
P.S. Earlier this week, I asked Jane if she wanted to be a princess when she grew up (since pink and princess is what our lives are all about these days). She replied with a firm "no". "Mommy, I told you. I am going to be a paleontologist. A purple and pink paleontologist."

She will be a purple and pink paleontologist with a BIG personality!
I love the narrative and the pictures. Can't wait to see that little girl and her brothers.
Love the cake! Did you have to sacrifice her legs?
