Being Six-Years-Old at 32

I'm thinking more people wish they could ditch their children at Disney Parks than they are willing to admit.

Luckily, for Lane and I, we got to do just that at the end of February.

Off to Florida we flew, met my parents and my siblings and their spouses and spent the next five days playing it up like we hadn't a care or child in the world (mostly because fabulous people were back in our respective homes caring for our babies).

Disneyworld is more massive than I ever imagined. Acres upon acres. And you can't walk to the different parks (can you tell my Disney education came from California?).

We designated different days for the different parks and on Monday the very best of them all won out.

Magic Kingdom is so excited that we walked into the park, there were fireworks.
Lane rocking out with Chip and Dale.
Lane stole a hat from the pirates for Elliot ... he was pretty stoked about that (both of them, actually).
Tuesday it was off to Animal Kingdom. Awesome safari ride and exotic animals from almost every region of the world.

It rained Tuesday, but really it just felt like we were in a rain forest ... so much more authentic!
Me at a safe distance from the Komodo Dragon.
Wednesday we went to Universal Studios. We got to go to Harry Potter world and Seussland. AWE-some.
Lane with the Lorax.

Lane has a fascination with Fantastic 4.
The bird kissed me. How could I say no to a photo with Woody after that?
Knocking at the Once-ler's door. No one answered.
In front of Hogwarts. Best ride in Florida? Dueling Dragons right here in Hogsmeade.
After that, we all decided to go the places we most wanted to see.

Of course, being the most nostalgic, Lane and I kept coming back to the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood. I think we spent three of our days there.
There was no line. We don't want Elliot freaking out when he sees characters this summer at Disneyland.
Inside the Toy Story ride. It ranks as the most popular ride in all the Disney theme parks. Literally, Fast Passes are gone by 10:30 a.m. every morning.
Back in front of Cinderella's castle. I kept seeing these Minnie ears all over the different parks and being a real 6-year-old, I had to have them. Lane indulged me.
With Goofy. Hopefully now Elliot won't scream the minute he sees his favorite Disney characters.
But every night, we continued to go back to Epcot.

Why? Because it was SO much more awesome than we ever thought possible.
Lane and I in Epcot on our last night.
I came to Epcot thinking it was merely a display of other countries (I think I was thinking high-school-report style). Not actual replicas of countries. It totally rocked!

We ate in every country we could. Germany, France, Italy and Norway. They actually import the ingredients from the different countries ... and all the workers are on an exchange program from the specific region.

Our chef the night we ate in France.
In all likelihood, I ate enough to gain a good 8 pounds. Luckily, I think my marathon might have offset any real damage I might have done.

And, of course, now Lane and I are uber excited to take our kids to Disneyland this summer. Like, chomping at the bit excited. Is it June yet?

That sounds like such a fun trip! You're never too old to be the kid at a Disney park.

It really was a magical trip, wasn't it. Thanks for saving the memories in pictures.
