Missing garbage

No, I don't keep tabs on my trash, but I know a few things about it. Last week, we never took out our trash can (there was only one bag in there). Two days ago, Lane took another bag of trash to the garbage can. My math is rusty, but even without a calculator I know that adds to two bags of trash ... right? WRONG. Today, as I took the can to the curb it seemed oddly light. I glanced in and there was only one bag of trash ... the one from two days ago. Lane said the can was empty when he took out the trash last.
Lane isn't concerned at all ... I suppose I should be the same. But regardless, it's still strange that a bag suddenly went missing from our trashcan. Giant rats (ROUS's)? Rabid dogs? I don't know.

I bet your garbage man picked it up ... isn't there on the driveway??

Not to be a complete doomsayer and certainly not to freak you out, but stealing garbage is way thieves use to steal people's identity ... looking for people's unshredded bills, statements etc. That's why people are advised to not put their trash cans on the street too early.

Anyway, again not to freak you out, but that just popped into my mind when I read about your mysterious trash disappearance.

I know ... someone taking my identity is my worst nightmare. But luckily, I handle the mail and NOTHING that has our names on it gets put in the trash. Only generic resident stuff. Everything else is shredded. Lane thinks I'm obsessive about it -- and I am.
