Mommy's little piggy

When my darling daughter was born, she weighed in at 8 pounds 1 ounce. She did lose 3 ounces before we left the hospital (which I am assured is not a lot for a newborn), but by the time I took her to the pediatrician that Friday, she weighed a solid 8 pounds again. On Wednesday, I took her to the pediatrician one more time (I was worried about her umbilical cord) and in the five days since our last visit, my baby gained 9 ounces.
I like to think it was a growth spurt. Don't think for one minute the weight gain has put much ease to my mind about her nutrition. She's slowed down on eating and I am back to the occasional thought that she isn't getting enough.
On a side note, I count my many blessings that in having a brand-new baby and being a bit of a worrier under normal circumstances, I have a wonderful brother-in-law who is a pediatrician. This fantastic man offered to put Lane or my mind at ease if we ever had questions and he has already been used for these purposes. He is wonderful.

I appreciate the nod to "A Christmas Story" . . . and those cheeks just match perfectly. Even though she hasn't really gotten past the new-baby lethargy (or so it seems), I can already tell a little of her personality. This is just a prediction, but I bet she'll have more of her daddy's laid-back nature than her momma's worrying. Thank heavens George Banks was right; it gets better with the generations.

Hey, what did y'all decide for Jane's middle name? I'm curious.

She is so CUTE!!! I love chubby babies, I know I'm not the only one who thinks this. You are lucky to have a doctor in the family. I just moved next door to one and it beats going to the ER in the middle of the night for NOTHING (although it seems like anything but nothing to a mother). We are so happy for you. I know it's hard to figure out what you want to do with your free time, but keep us updated on your cute bundle of joy!

PS Jason and Jackie have a blog now, go to ours and there is a link.
