I waited, took the dogs out and eventually gave into my neurotic thoughts, knowing she would be back in la-la land if it was a bad dream.
I cracked open the door (I hate this rental) and glanced at the crib. Her face was toward the wall. I stole across the room to examine my Sleeping Beauty. Suddenly, she turned and her bright, heart-melting eyes looked right up at me.
And then, that smile. Not the "Fool, now she is a slave to my whims!", but the "My favorite person, Mommy!" smile.
I couldn't resist. I picked her up, kissed those kissable cheeks and took in her scent.
After a diaper change, we snuggled in the rocker, her rubbing those beautiful browns and burrowing into my chest and the crook of my arm.
And I sang. She looked up with a sleepy smile -- if only she realized how hideous my voice truly is -- and started to doze.
Ah, me. I love this girl.

She's so beautiful. I can't imagine what it must be like to have such a wonderful, amazing, untainted person love you so completely. And I can't help thinking . . . if something so close to heaven trusts you, is so pleased with you, and looks up to you so much, doesn't that say something about you, too?
She is beautiful Rachel! It was so good to catch up the other day! I hope to meet Jane soon!
