The only marathon I run these days is the one of no sleep.
While my darling angel boy sleeps beautifully during the day, it is quite the different picture at night. In fact, we both cried from 4:30 to 5:30 this morning. He for some unknown reason and me because I simply desired the sweet release of sleep.
But I love him anyway.
So yesterday Lane calls me from work. He rarely does this. His specific request? (I am quoting here): "I want you to forget everything else you think you need to do, besides eating lunch, and sleep when both of the babies are asleep."
I him and hawed, but told him I would try.
But when both kids fell asleep, I got a second wind.
And much like a marathon, when you get a renewal of energy at mile 22 (or whenever it happens for you), you don't just stop to rest. You plow through.
So that's what I did.
Laundry, bathrooms, kitchen. I did all I could do in the time allotted me without a nursing newborn and live-wire toddler.
But now I'm beyond exhausted.
And unlike a marathon, I'm not going to be able to sleep for 18 hours to shake this fatigue off.
But the surge of energy netted another product. I found these photos:
Jane about 12 hours old
Elliot about 12 hours old
Lane thinks they look a lot alike. Sometimes I see it, other times I don't. What do you think?

soo much alike... make sure you label the pics. I am regrettig that now w/our boys
Oh my word! The only difference I see is in the hair color! Now....granted....they are both only hours old and we both know babies change a ton the first few months of life, but I am willing to bet that they will have the same look....definitely same nose! A CUTE nose! I know how you feel about noses! And btw, I agree with Lane.....get some sleep. Get it while you can, I know about babies like Elliot. I had TWO of them....it is not easy when you are sleep deprived.
Good luck with getting sleep. I suffer from the same problem, both kids fall asleep and all of a sudden I have all the energy in the world. The minute I hear one of them start to cry and I want to sleep. I remembering having my second when he was a newborn and also crying in the middle of the night because I wanted so badly to sleep, but then when I had the opportunity, I couldn't fall asleep. It is very frustrating.
In regards to you not sleeping, I hope you get some rest sometime. I can only imagine what it's like trying to raise children so close in age. As far as the baby pictures, I do believe there are similarities. Jane's lips and ears look different to me. I can definitely tell them apart. But they are both adorable. You have a beautiful family. Lots of love.
They do look a lot alike! But this is coming from a woman who thinks that most babies at that age look the same. I fear I won't be able to pick my own out of a crowd! JK.
