I'm confident that soon Jane will be able to count to 3.
It will be a result of repetition on my part.
Of course, Jane will think counting to 3 goes like this: "One. Two. Two and a half. (dramatic pause) Three. OK. That's it. Time out."
Seriously. That's the only way she hears me count. That is, of course, unless I'm counting along with Elmo on Sesame Street.
Really, Jane's my darling girl. But I had an epiphany (probably the 50th time I've had this epiphany) when I was escaping to the hallway with a screaming toddler during church: Jane is my karma. She's sweet. She's loving. She loves to clean. She loves her family and friends. And she's belligerently stubborn.
My mother's wish came true: I have a daughter like me.

No joke, did your mom do that to you too? My mother wished a child on me that is just like me. She said I was the only kid she wished that on.....it's a good thing Emma is so darn cute. She is always pushing things to the limit...ALWAYS!
I LOLed when I read your comment about how Jane will think counting to three goes. It's an important thing to reinforce, though, if only for the teachers she will have in the years to come. (When I taught gymnastics, another teacher revealed the trick to just start counting, no need to say that anything would happen at "three"; WITHOUT FAIL my kids would obey me by "two." Magic.)
I have a daughter like you too. Now how did that happen?
Just kidding. But seriously. She does remind me of you at times. Very kind and remembers EVERYTHING about someone (even the things you say you want her to forget). But stubborn. And tattles a lot. That's probably the older sister in me remembering :)
Stubborn is a good characteristic to have as an adult. They are the ones that get things done!
This made me smile Rach! You're lucky to have a loving, beautiful family!
