Do you know the exact thing you were doing a year ago?
Perhaps I am not as unique as I am deluding myself to believe at this very moment, but I know, for a fact, that this night last year I was crammed into my rental home's tiny hall bathroom with my 1-year-old on my lap and my husband crouching at my feet struggling with our panicking dog as we waited out the tornado sirens wailing outside our home.
I was slightly peeved that a storm of such magnitude had slammed our home this night because I wanted to get to bed early -- the next day was a big day and I knew, I KNEW it would be weeks before I truly slept again.
I wanted sleep before I drove off to the hospital at 4 a.m. to be induced for Elliot's birth.
As it turned out, I only got 4 hours of sleep that night.
But it was worth it.
Friday (aka tomorrow) my baby turns one.
I'm a little emotional tonight. Perhaps more so than with Jane, but maybe that's because I blamed those tears on my 6 months of pregnancy.
Tonight I took my infant carrier from the car and installed the new Britax, replete in its Mossy Oak Limited Edition glory.
And I got teary once more as I put the infant carrier with the rest of my newborn baby stuff in the attic.
But he's still my baby.
One-year-old or not.

Happy B-day E-man! He is darling. And that look you're giving him in that last picture ... truly a mother look. We only have eyes for them! Love you guys
Happy Birthday Big Man!!! Can't wait to see birthday pics - glad you had fun family there to celebrate. Congrats on the first year down! Lots more fun years to go!
They grow up so fast! It is hard for me to let them grow up but ironically I love the new stages they grow into. He is so so so cute, and I agree with Julia, that is definitely the mama look. We adore them whether they are being little monsters or little angels, don't we? Have fun on the cruise....I am green....with envy that is.
look at how much growth has occurred in just that year. . .a beautiful new home and two beautiful children and continuing incredulous husband and anticipated trip coming soon and happy happy happy. . .that is truly a year of progress. Looking forward to seeing you in a few days. . .
