Day 2

Apparently the vintage horse award ribbon is big in the Gothic culture? Little did I know, I guess. At any rate, it's marked with a two, so this is what we turned around to view the day's activity.

"Check out Halloween books at the library." A trip to the library? Heaven on earth for my darlings, so done and done.
Today at the library even featured story time aimed for Jane's age, which unintentionally worked out perfectly.
Of course, my darlings decided to be the only two tyrants in the packed story time room. C'est la vie.
We sauntered out of story time (read: Jane wove through the crowds away from my hand as I struggled with a 30-pound 16-month-old who does not want to be carried, yet still refuses to walk) and got our Halloween books

and neither could wait to dig into the new adventures.

Of course, in Jane's world, all that exists are dinosaurs and princesses, so while Elliot "read" a Halloween book, Jane waxed eloquent on the dinosaurs found in her library find.
In all, a fabulous activity, perfect for my two babies. And even with the exit gafuffle, I enjoyed myself.
Tonight we'll read those Halloween books with Daddy. Let's all hope there's no large spiders in there. (Back story: Our local grocery store has a massive animatronic spider sitting on the display of candy when you walk into the store. Jane DOES NOT like it. She'll skirt around the edges by the walls to keep as far away from it as possible. Yesterday, I let her push her own mini cart as we picked up last minute items for Lane's birthday dinner. We were on our way to the registers when Jane starts shrieking and crying like someone snatched her. I looked up to see the back end of the massive spider (the thing unnerves me too). Jane was holding out her hands crying and screaming "No make me go. No make Jane go. Mommy, no make Jane go. No, no, no." We made a hasty escape down the house cleaner aisle and wove our way around the back.)

Spiders are the hot topic in our family right now too. My 3 year old insists there are big spider shadows on her wall at night that make it next to impossible for her to fall asleep alone. Now this is coming from the same child who only months ago would pick up any bug in sight, spiders included. We need to rename her Sydney the Manipulator Wilson.
