And so, just like a testimonial, I say the Halloween Advent Calendar has produced yet another success! (Can I be paid now, like some kind of commercial?)
Day 9 produced carmel apples.

I usually dislike these because they are messy and gooey and just plain difficult to eat. However, I found a simple recipe (here) that, while it starts gooey, ends up forming perfectly. It was really very little mess. I think the success came from sticking the Granny Smith apples in the freezer for 15 minutes before I put them in the carmel. Then once carmeled (yes, I just made up a word), I put them in the fridge for 10 minutes.
Worked like a charm.
