I'm joking.
She's not really evil.
My baby girl is still my sweet little angel. You can put on a pretend sad face and that child will come running to kiss you, give you loves and snuggle with you until the end of time.
But I can't lie, she is slightly diabolical.
Some of her new talents?
1) Shrieking. She has a superpower (two, actually): Shrieking and an uncanny ability to know when something is driving me insane.
The first hundred times she shrieked, I ignored it. I knew if I gave credence to this never-ending Banshee wail, she'd keep it up. But she knew. Her amazing little brain knew: This bothers Mom.
So she's kept at it. Particularly in the car when she wants her window down or her favorite song on. And now her brother is copying her.
So if you ever see me driving past you and I'm red in the face, know my children are shrieking to break glass.
2) "Ouch, you hurting me."
Anytime, and I mean anytime, you tell this child she can't do something she wants or try to direct her to an area she does not want to go, she pulls out the big guns: "Ouch, you hurting me, Mama."
Like at the library last week. Jane wanted to stay and read her books. I told her we had to get home and directed her to the check-out line. She pouted and I told her we wouldn't get the books if she was going to whine. So she looks up at me with a glare and shouts, "Ouch, Mama. That hurt. You hurting me." Over and over.
But I do love her. She's just an-almost-three-year-old. And too smart for her little britches.
Now if you'll excuse me, she's begging for me to come sit with her and I fear that these moments might have an expiration date.

she still won't take photos without closing her eyes and saying "cheese." this open-eyed photo was a small miracle.

Is that how you were, Rachel? Screaming ought to be a crime. . .if your first one does it, all your kids will do it. My poor ears, you're hurting me, Mama!
Love, love your blogs!!
I love it. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, eh? I seem to remember a little sister who constantly tattled on me for hurting her when in fact I rarely touched her. Karma, baby, karma :)
Keep the photos coming!!
