The Champion

With the resurgence of Fall, I took up the Cinnamon Roll Quest I began last year.

You might not remember, but I was on a mission to find the perfect cinnamon roll. I can't remember how many different recipes I made last year, but let's just say this: It was a lot.

I think I found the winner last night.

And I have bad news for the Grandmas.

Typically, I am the champion of any Grandma recipe. And it's not that I don't love mine and Lane's grandmas' recipes. They are delish and I would happily eat an entire pan.

But the brilliant minds at America's Test Kitchen Cookbook have won yet again.

I'm almost afraid to make their recipes now, as they have debunked more than one long-standing Grandma classic.

But these cinnamon rolls. Oh. These cinnamon rolls.

Lane and I typically have different tastes on this matter. For instance: He L.O.V.E.S. Cinnabun. And I say: Yuck. I can't even eat one.

But both he and I loved this recipe. The rolls were firm but soft. They had a great simple flavor and my oh my, how it melted into your mouth. The heart of these rolls was enough to kill for.

Prior to final raise and baking

I did not use their frosting recipe for the rolls. Since I prefer mine lathered in frosting (and their's dictated a simple drizzle), I flipped a few pages over to ATK's cream cheese frosting recipe for carrot cake.

Num. Num. Num.

The presentation on this roll doesn't do it justice. But believe me when I say: Come to Mama.

Seriously, couldn't waste time with presentation, which I know is half the score, but my mouth was watering too much.
And really, I am a recipe hoarder, but I would share this one. However, I feel it my civic duty to say this: GO BUY THE COOKBOOK.

Not because I'm being lazy about typing the instructions, but because your life will be better and your waistline thicker if you buy this book. I promise.

Oooh, I need to try these. Dave was just saying he felt like this should be our next recipe quest (after finding perfect recipes for chocolate chip cookies, homemade mac'n'cheese, pizza, and other staples). We may have a winner, too.

I saw that cookbook at Kroger today! I almost stopped to buy it, but I was running crazy picking up peewee football snacks. I think you may have me convinced it's a must have.
