Leaves

I swear to you: This is not slave labor.

Today, as Day 8, is "play in the leaves".
I love this one, though I'm not sure what it's supposed to be. I copied it from the original calendar from the magazine ... although I added the pearls around the circle.

But this is Texas. The leaves are still green on the trees.

Luckily for us, the brutal summer killed some of the branches on my trees (I know, I'm thrilled) and we've had leaves fall, especially after our wind/rain storm the other night.

And this is what the kids wanted to do. They constantly beg me to go out and sweep the leaves. They get mad when I leave them behind to do it alone.

They think this is playing in the leaves.

Who am I to tell them otherwise?
P.S. You probably don't remember, but Day 8 last year was the day Elliot walked for the first time. Now look at him. I'm getting all misty here ... stupid pregnancy hormones.

I love when kids still enjoy what we adults call work. For some reason my 5 year old loves cleaning the baseboards. I use it as a punishment for fighting etc but he loves it!

Oh, Rachel = you should see the leaves on our front lawn from those two big maple trees. They are all over and still tons to fall. All the neighbor kids use to come play in the leaves - they would build houses with rooms, like a floor plan, but they were rooms to them. Then they piled on leaves and jumped in the leaves.
LOve your daily rituals. . .G:ma
