That I wouldn't celebrate a birthday on the same day as anything else.
Well, guess what? Gas rations (in our home) forced me to change my tune. Not to mention, Lane worked all day and I hardly think he gave it a second thought.
I, on the other hand, am suffering with guilt.
But he tells me it was a wonderful day. Despite the fact that dinner was served at 9:15 p.m.
Let me just say: It had nothing to do with my cooking.
My poor birthday boy. Not only did major problems crop up at work, shortly after coming home, he had to rush back out for church responsibilities. I thought it better that his dinner was warm and fresh then eaten hurriedly and meager in presentation.
(Luckily, it was so worth the wait. The bread ... oh my! It was certainly time consuming, but it most definitely will be worked into the rotation of dinner prep. (First, I made the French Bread from scratch, then topped it with a garlic butter/cheese combo of my brother-in-law's divine. Heaven!))
The lateness of dinner and the rushed special outing of a birthday lunch (complete with balloon and a surprise visit to his office) all contribute to the reasons I love this man so much and why I feel he needs and deserves the best birthday possible.

I can't believe it!! It almost brought tears to my eyes (Finns are stoic) but the tenderness and thoughtfulness of your reasons for loving your man were palpable. Best thing I've read in a long time. You have a gem!!!
So glad you found each other. . .
