But my brain can't handle the weather.
Either be cold or be warm (preferably at the appropriate times).
Currently we're experiencing our version of schizophrenic Fall. Some days the high is 80. The next day we won't get any warmer than the high 50s.
My skin and trees are all suffering.
As for Jane and Elliot, the cold nights brought the rebirth of the footsie pajamas.
You see, Elliot is still a psychotic sleeper and is all over his twin mattress. Blankets are null and void in his world. And he takes off his socks.
So to keep his sweet little nose from freezing off, I put footsie jammies on him.
Jane will stay in socks and under blankets, but if Elliot gets footsies it becomes the Apocalypse if she can't join (you see, they like to wear matching pajamas. Truly).
And when the nights got cold, I suddenly realized my daughter had grown.
I think it happened awhile ago. But, being the stellar mother I am, I had no qualms with her shorts and short-sleeved shirts being shorter than usual.
Pants, sweaters and footsie jammies are another matter entirely.
Next time I'm going to take note of these things in the summer.
Because buying clothes piecemeal, whilst on sale, if far preferable to rushing out in a panic and finding whatever I could to fit her Goldfish-mongering body.

I love putting my kids in footsie pajamas too, my kids are like egg beaters in their beds, they are never in the same place I put them when they start their sleep. :o) Are you feeling well? There have been no pictures of the baby bump and I would love to see!
I love kids in feet pajamas! Lydia requests them too. I, however, can't imagine anything more suffocating to sleep in than an item that forces your feet to be covered.
So glad they're not the norm for adults... though I have seen them out there.
Rachel,
When my kids were youngsters and wouldn't stay under their covers, I bought some blanket fabric. I layed
them on the floor on the fabric and drew neck, arms and then like a big balloon for the legs and feet. With a zipper front, it was neat as far as I was concerned. Actually as I think of this now, I think my motive was more to keep them in bed, because I didn't think they could walk in those blanket sacks. OH, but they did walk around in them with huge giant steps. Ask your mom what color the sleeping sacks were!
