The Train has left the station

(As my Aunt Laura would say.)
Four weeks left in this pregnancy and at my OB yesterday I was told (this is a direct quote here) "she's nice and low." So the baby has dropped ... actually, last week we were told that the baby had dropped, but I'm not hanging any hopes on this.

I know the old wives' tale says once your first baby drops you're only three weeks away from delivery, but according to the books I've read (probably written by people who have no children), your baby can drop two to four weeks before the due date and still be two weeks past due. Plus, I'm not sure I want her to come early. I mean, I want Jane to be born and here, but I really want that pedicure my mom promises to the distraught mother who doesn't deliver on her due date. Not that a pedicure is more important than the delivery of my first born, but my feet are in some serious need of attention since bending is near impossible. And there's the very real possibility that I'm just trying to put off the inevitable delivery. Is there not a way the baby can magically appear in my arms without having to push or have surgery?

And, sorry, no photo of a dropped belly (if you can even tell that it has dropped). I'm confident many of you can conjure in your head the image of a big pregnant belly that looks a few centimeters lower than previously ... if that's something you even want to be imagining.

I imagine it looks a lot better than seeing a big gaping V-jay and a head coming through. I was in psych class the other day watching this great video about childhood and all of a sudden without warning we are in a delivery room watching a live birth! Ok...cool and all, I get it, it's "beautiful"...I suppose. But please, please warn me next time!
Oh and good luck with that!
OUCH!
