It was a beautiful blessing and overall a very good day. We were a little worried about Pooh -- she's rarely been complacent of late ... she's either really happy or very upset. When Lane got up with her she started getting a little fussy, but as soon as Lane opened his mouth to begin she quieted right down and stayed pleasant through the whole blessing.
My mom made Jane's blessing dress (and actually made it an official act of love ... all her greatest works include a little prick of blood (not by design)). It was perfect. I'm not sure you can see it in this photo, but there is light blue piping around the sleeves and neck and the bottom of the dress and yoke of the bonnet (which is very traditional) is scalloped. I loved it.
My mother- and father-in-law flew out this morning just for the blessing, which was really nice. My mom and dad, sister Julia and her family, and sister Diana also drove down for the afternoon.
And on the note of blessings, I have to say, what a blessing family can be (and always is for Lane and I).

Well done on the dress. Anything hand made makes it so much more special and hopefully you'll have more girls so you can use it again. I'm glad it all went well and she was well behaved. She looks pretty happy in those pictures with her parents! See you guys soon.
She looks like a complete angel! Rachel, you look gloriously happy and so gorgeous as a new Mommy! I love you so much, and I'm proud of you and your little family. I wish Michael & I could have been there for the blessing. I love the pics, so keep your blog updated. I can see lil' Jane growing before our eyes. She's so adorable!
Beautiful dress and I love the bonnet! Her nursery sure is cute, too! Love it.
