The Fourth

I fully intended to post a music video of Pooh rockin' out to her favorite singer in what could possibly be called his greatest song for the Fourth. I know Katie and Trish would have been thrilled to see the video -- if not for the adorable baby, then for the silky sweetness of Neil.

Instead, I'm posting a recap of our nation's birthday.

I went to the gym in the morning, leaving the baby in Lane's care. This is what I found when I got home (who's taking care of who?):

He was obviously really tired because he's usually fawning over her when I get home.

Jane's baby hair (which several people swore would merely fall out) is getting longer. So, for a day I knew would be all picturey, she and I did our hair the same:

Jane got all dressed up in her Fourth apparel (it reads "All American Girl"):

and the we all went to my parents for a BBQ. After, we put Pooh to sleep and headed to the park for the city's fireworks. Of course, the pre-show fireworks woke the baby, but she handled a 5-hour delay in bedtime amazingly well.
We took a little family photo before the big show:

Pooh got distracted by a small firework and Lane struck his pose with his awesome hat.

I got a little nervous about the loud bangs mixed with a tired baby, but Jane proved my fears frivolous when she sat silently enjoying the show:
