Second star to the right

And so Jane and her cousins dressed as the cast of Peter Pan this Halloween.

Lane is opposed to babies trick or treating unless they can walk or say "Trick or Treat", but since Jane was Tinkerbell and Julia's kids were Peter Pan, Hook and Wendy, we joined them for a jaunt around their neighborhood.

We started the evening with pumpkin carving ... whilst Jane napped up for her big night out (Trick or Treating began at 7:30 ... a good hour past her bedtime).

Jane was none too pleased that she was left to nap during the pumpkin-carving fun and expressed this sentiment while I made her pose by the pumpkins.

She acted slightly happier while we took a photo before we left for my sister's ... I was extremely worried she would be fussy and crying the whole Halloween night (mostly because more than one mother told me of their baby unhappy to be dressed in a costume) and this poor behavior was not a good sign for me.

Julia prepared a delightful meal of worms, brains, blood clots, goblin goo and other fine Halloween delicacies.

By the time costume time rolled around, Jane was as pleasant as can be (although Mr. M's pirate hat scared the heeby jeeby's out of her ... and isn't he sweet? He wouldn't put it back on until he was in the dark where he thought the hat would be masked by the night.).

Happily, this story turned out to have a wonderful ending ... even with the rain. She was a huge hit in the costume Grammie made just for her and kept up social appearances by waving and flirting the entire night. She even tried to fly several times.

And as with any good bedtime story, this one ended with a happy baby 3 1/2 hours past her bedtime ... not an unhappy squawk from her mouth.

They're all so beautiful! I love Jane's costume, and I'm so sad I couldn't be there with all of you to observe it. And I'm so happy her first Halloween was a success (it is, after all, quite the best holiday).

The kiddies turned out so cute! Jane is such a little doll. P.S. I loved your "reasons i love my husband" from the last entry, though i'm generally a fan of mushy stuff (when it's sincere!)
