Wednesday was to be our trip to the Arboretum to visit the pumpkin village in celebration of our love of pumpkins day.
| There is something about skeleton key that just yells Halloween to me. |
On the spur of the moment, I opted for Pumpkin Fest.
I whipped up a pie crust in the morning,
and ventured to our new Trader Joe's with the kids for more pumpkin culinary supplies (I knew TJ's would deliver!).
| The tiny pumpkins were a huge hit with the kids. Sixty cents. Totally worth it! And that pumpkin butter? You can make it into soup (which I did). It tastes like candy ... literally. |
The day ended with a wonderful pumpkin feast of pumpkin pie, pumpkin pancakes and pumpkin soup.
I have to say, I was fairly impressed with how my emergency day ended up. It might have to become a regular-rotation day!
