My current obsession

is Andes mints (thanks a lot Jack in the Box). So when my Relief Society asked for favorite desserts or side dishes to be brought to homemaking (they have it every month), I jumped on the chance for an excuse for Andes-mint something. My Dad has a cream pie recipe that is de-lic-ious (hyphens added for emphasis) and my baby sister, Katie, reportedly made a to-die-for alteration of this pie last year (I wasn't there).

It has melted Andes mints along the bottom of the crust and peppermints crushed into the chocolate cream portion. I'm a little worried however ... my grinder broke when I was trying to pulverize the mints (Katie's admonition) so I wasn't able to add the amount of peppermint I thought suitable. I tasted the cream ... it's still good, I just don't know if it's worthy of its title.

Oh well ... no one eats it, I am sure Jane and I can polish it off easily.

Jack in the Box Heaven

Last week, my adorable nephew made a profound comment about Jack in the Box Oreo shakes. He explained a theory basically saying the shakes are heaven ... Jack in the Box Heaven (to see the full conversation, go to Julia's blog http://thesmithsfunnyfarm.blogspot.com/2007/10/chocolate-heaven.html).
Since my nephew's deep comment, I could not get the shakes out of my head. So when Lane and I needed to get something to eat whilst in San Jose, I suggested Jack in the Box, fully intending to get my delicious Oreo shake. However, as I approached the register, marketing techniques took hold of my heart as I saw a sign declaring "Back for a limited time ONLY: Andes mint shakes." As a consumer, I was sold. I ordered an Andes mint shake and I do not regret my decision. It was worthy of Jack in the Box Heaven.
